FRONTIERES AND THE MARCHE DU FILM WILL LAUNCH A NEW PARTNERSHIP IN CANNES
Frontières and the Marché du Film de Cannes are pleased to announce the start of a partnership focused on the organization of a series of industry events geared towards the genre film community.
Frontières concluded a highly successful edition at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival last week, welcoming over 200 participants from 30 countries in the aftermath of the recent terrorist attacks on the city. The market has already seen one deal officially finalized, between Dutch project AMSTERDAM GOTHIC (from House of Netherhorror) and Belgian production company Potemkino; more announcements will come shortly
The first stage for this Frontières-Marché alliance will begin at the Marché du Film 2016 in Cannes through the programming of the following events, on Sunday May 15, creating a genre film day:
- Frontières Goes to Cannes: Presentation of 4 Works-In-Progress of genre films in post-production seeking agents and festival selections.
- The Future of Genre & Virtual Reality: A showcase examining Canadian Virtual Reality projects with a genre focus, co-presented with the Canadian Film Centre during the “VR Days” at NEXT organized by the Marché du Film.
- The Fantastic Fanatics Mixer: The very popular Marché du Film networking cocktail at the Plage des Palmes tailored to the genre community. Sponsored by: Frontières, Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, Blood Window (Ventana Sur) and Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
For the Marché du Film 2017, the slate of programming will expand to include pitch-sessions, one-on-one meetings and thematic panels on the state of the Industry and the future of genre film.
The duo is also in talks with other partners to organize a Packaging and Financing Forum in Europe for next year.
The annual North American edition of Frontières will take place as usual at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal in July.
